The Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland, led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Cabdiqani Maxamed Aadan, and accompanied by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Cabdikariin Axmed Ducaale (Walhad), held a consultative meeting today with the Higher Education Commission.
The purpose of the meeting was to engage in a fact-finding discussion regarding the Higher Education Act, with particular focus on issues related to improving higher education quality, the regulatory framework, and the role of the Higher Education Commission in the national education system.
The Committee received a detailed briefing from the Commission concerning the current status of higher education in the country, existing challenges, and recommendations aimed at amending and implementing the Higher Education Act to reflect the nation's real educational needs.
On their part, the Higher Education Commission expressed gratitude to the Social Affairs Committee for the opportunity to present their views and engage in joint deliberations on the development and enhancement of the higher education system in Somaliland.
In conclusion, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Cabdiqani Maxamed Aadan, extended his sincere appreciation to the Commission for their proactive role in advancing higher education and for their readiness to collaborate with the House of Representatives in developing a modern and responsive legal framework that meets the country’s current and future educational demands.
